ssd's annotated Origami bibliography

Origami is the Japanese word for the art of paperfolding. The art is actually was originally Chinese, but Japanese paper advanced faster. Today, of course, it is an international art, not limited to any nationality.

Beginner's books

The Magic of Origami, Alice Gray and Kunihiko Kasahara
very basic intro; many many models with a wide range of difficulty; this is the first Origami book I learned from.
Origami: Paperfolding for Fun, Eric Kenneway
EXCELLENT beginner's instructions; diagram of folds in table of contents; many simple models.

other books...

Origami for the Enthusiast, John Montroll
Also fondly known as "Origami for the Masochist"; many very very difficult models, not recommended for anyone but the expert!! (Also, there are almost no words in this book, although generally they are not needed, as Origami diagrams are very explicit.) Montroll has invented many patterns, and puts many steps between diagrams. The simplest model shows 12 diagrams; one model has 78 diagrams. Montroll's inventions tend to be very detailed and very realistic looking!
Origami Sea Life, John Montroll, Robert J. Lang
This book contains a few folds similar to those in Orgami for the Enthusiast, as well as completely new ones, but the diagrams are more detailed and much easier to follow.
The Complete Book of Origami, Robert J. Lang
This book contains many complex and interesting looking figures. A few are similar to Montroll's creations.
Origami for the connoisseur, Kunihiko Kasahara and Toshie Takahama
This book contains a lot of theory discussions mixed with models. Many of the models are modern, including several very interesting modular orgami models, and folds to make all five of the classical regular solids out of squares. Also included are animals, traditional Japanese boxes, and others.
Unit Origami: Multidimensional Transformations, Tomoko Fuse`
This book is dedicated entirely to modular origami (my favorite)
Origami Museum Animals, Akira Yoshizawa
Origami Sculptures, John Montroll
Origami: The Art of Paperfolding, Robert Harbin
This book contains several more American folds mixed in with many traditional folds. (beginner's level)

Recently, I found some other Origami sites...so I'll include them here...

If you see Origami on Yahoo, lemme know, and I'll put a link here.
