bow tie antennas
The biconical antenna is an omnidirectional wide band antenna.
It's size determines its lowest frequency response, as it acts like a high pass filter. As frequency goes higher, away from the design frequency, the pattern of the antenna distorts and spreads.
Most bow tie antennas are a derrivative of the biconical antenna.
The discone is half a biconical antenna.
The bowtie is a planar (and therefore directional) antenna.
