[edit] ToDo
Verfy that non-apple hard drives will work in the Apple Xserver- Completed by Brian- Figure out how to have server hosted
- Contact Pedro about details for housing it in the Harris Lab
- Have Dr. Evenson contact the NOC about opening ports in the firewall for the server
- Assign administrators to the Server
- Decide which distribution to use
CentOS- No support for PowerPC- Based on RHEL
- Most Linux users can figure it out
- Limits the "custom setup" problems
- Debian
- Supports PowerPC
- Quick and easy to install, configure, and manage
Gentoo- Too much upkeep/configuration.- Suse
Ubuntu- 7.04 does not support PowerPC
