[edit] Debian as the Server's Operating System

Surprisingly, there has been no real discussion about using Debian as the server's operating system. Debian could get this project off the ground fairly quickly, as it would not require compile time (as opposed to, say, Gentoo) or abundant configuration beyond the defaults. The PowerPC architecture is officially supported, as well (the latest release of Ubuntu doesn't seem to match this requirement). To top everything off, Debian's latest release, Etch, is fairly up to date (Apache 2.2, PHP 5, Ruby 1.8 or 1.9, etc.)! Personally, I have been using Debian for quite a few years; so, if ever a helping hand was necessary, I could certainly assist. I have added Debian to the list of potential operating systems, and I would like to hear some comments for/against the remaining choices ("against" != flaming).
