LUG Meeting 02-23-2006

The February 23, 2006 meeting of the LUG@UCF was of an informal nature.

Eric made a brief presentation on wavemon.

Brian showed us ispconfig briefly.

We now have a cubical.

• It is located at the Student Union on the Second floor.
• We are required to spend atleast 10 hours a week at the cubical in order to keep it.
• Anyone wishing to spend some time at the cubical needs to login and logout when there and needs to log their hours on the wiki.

The Network Tinkerfest may have to be postponed.

We discussed some plans for the lug:

• We discussed the posibility of setting up a server inside the UCF network.
  • The server would be used as an OpenSource mirror.
  • At first the server would be a private mirror only available to UCF students.
  • All current details on the mirror can be found here.
• We discussed holding a fundraiser to afford newer and bigger drives for the server.
• We are looking for programming projects to do.
  • Brian and Eric were interested in setting up a VNC client that uses desk3d or something similiar to switch between sessions.
• We are still interested in having an installfest, but we need to find out where and when we can have it.
