[edit] Unix access through the SunRay terminals

Unix is available in the harris lab on the Sun Ray computers:

  1. Insert your key card or student ID card in the card slot on the top right side of the console, chip facing back.
  2. Pull down the Options menu and select Remote host and enter biot.mmae.ucf.edu
  3. Log in and open your applications as usual.

Note that the Sun Rays have only partial support for OpenGL, and some applications that need it may not function correctly.

For example, to run I-DEAS on the Sun Rays, you must disable OpenGL:

 ideas -d x3d

The -d x3d option disables OpenGL (hardware shading). Unfortunately, this disables dynamic view in shaded mode, but it should still work in wire frame.

Note that biot.mmae.ucf.edu is the MMAE unix server. This also works for other unix servers.
