Help with the X Window System

The X Window System is a client-server network based graphical interface system. It includes both an application programming interface and a network protocol. Other (separate) systems such as CDE or Gnome are layered on top of X to give it a look and feel.

xterm
The xterm window emulates a text terminal. Multiple xterms will allow you to have multiple command prompts. You can open a new xterm by selecting any of the top three items on the twm new windows menu.
